motionless rite was a commission by the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble for a program featuring the four hand piano arrangement of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. In my brief work, the irregular, homophonic sonorities of Stravinsky’s idiom are placed into a form which allows the harmonies to float directionless and distantly.
